Last weekend, Montverde Academy senior Renata Martins competed in the state level Sons of the American Revolution Oration Contest where she received 2nd place! According to the Florida Society of SAR website, “… Our Chapter has served its members, family members and our community since its formation. According to Article II of the Constitution of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR) our objects are declared to be Patriotic, Historical and Educational. It is the intention of the NSSAR to perpetuate the memory of those patriots who, by their services or sacrifices during the war of the American Revolution, achieved the independence of the American People.”
This past Thursday through Saturday, Montverde Academy Upper School MUN (Model United Nations) students competed well in the 40th Annual Model United Nations Conference hosted by Georgia Southern University. This conference is considered by many as highly competitive and contains delegations from 24 schools throughout the south. All of the students did a wonderful job representing their assigned countries and representing themselves as Montverde Academy students. Mr. Robert Burke, Upper School History, chaperoned the group. He recently shared with the Montverde Academy Communications Office, “It was a great experience for the students. I would like to specifically congratulate Yvonne Dong who received Honorable Mention for her representation of Seychelles in the African Union Committee.”
