On Wednesday, February 10th, 2016, Mrs. Sarah Schlussel, Montverde Academy Upper School Biology teacher, organized a classroom lecture for her SAC (Study Area Concentration) Pre-Professional Health Sciences (PHS) students that was presented by Dr. Srinivas Attanti, MD, FACC, the father of Montverde Academy students Alekya, Rithwik and Tanusha Attanti.
Dr. Attanti visited the MacKenzie Upper School Classroom Building to discuss his career pathway and his work as a cardiac surgeon. He received his medical degree from JSS Medical College Mysore and has been in practice for nearly 25 years. According to U.S. News & World Report Health, “…He is one of 18 doctors at Citrus Memorial Hospital and one of 41 at Leesburg Regional Medical Center who specialize in Cardiovascular Disease.” During his MVA classroom lecture, Dr. Attanti focused on the methods of how to accurately read an EKG - or an electrocardiogram – a medical test that monitors the electrical activity of the human heart. He also demonstrated the use of cardiac catheters.
