The MVA Music Conservatory fine arts curriculum mission statement is premised on encouraging young artists “ …to create their own art, music, and theatre” – as well as prepare and educate those students “…for the next level in their music career with a balance of academics and fine arts.”  To cultivate their mission, Montverde Academy Music Conservatory held an Opening of School Conservatory Dinner and Orientation for faculty, students and parents inside the Media and Performing Arts orchestra room on Thursday, September 3, 6:00 P.M.  The event allowed students to meet new faculty, and gave parents the opportunity to ask any questions they had related to MAMC programming.  A delicious spaghetti dinner was prepared by the MVA dining hall, and new and returning musical faculty were introduced: Aubrey Connelly-Candelario, director.  Mary Mincy, piano.  Scott Knopf, high strings.  Hanrich Claassen, low stings.  Kimberly Randall, voice.

In a second event, MVA’s Music Conservatory’s Choir and String students hosted an Independent Schools Choral and Strings Festival on Saturday, September 12th from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., and then presented a FREE public concert presenting the material learned during the day at 4:00 p.m.  Performances were also presented from two other Florida high-schools:  Lake Minneola High School, located in Minneola, Florida, and Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, located in Melbourne, FloridaDr. David Brunner, Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at the he University of Central Florida (UCF), served as a visiting musical clinician for the event.
