October is breast cancer awareness month throughout the United States. Likewise, MVA’s Builders Club observed its annual “Pinktober Day” at the Middle-school last Friday morning (October 16th, 2015 by raising money for the Greater Clermont Cancer Foundation. The morning began with M.S student body president Matt Karen and vice president Alia Rodriguez setting up tables and baked goods in front of the Middle-school building. Many MVA Middle-school students donated baked goods and paid $2.00 to wear jeans and a pink shirt. This event helped stimulate awareness of breast cancer, and raised funds that will stay locally to help those dealing with the effects of cancer. The efforts of the Middle-school students demonstrate one of the Academy’s core values – community. In less than one day, the Middle-school students raised $865.00 towards fighting cancer, and spreading cancer awareness throughout our local region. Montverde Academy would like to thank all the families and students that donated baked goods, wore pink, and participated in this amazing philanthropic event!
