Upper School parents James and Kathy Thompson chose Montverde Academy based on MVA’s successful application of three principles driving our mission: knowledge, character and community.  As a parents of 2012 MVA alumna Jessica Thompson, and class of 2018’s Jaime Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson wanted to find the best educational option for their children – so they looked at the classes offered at the Academy, as well as our AP classes and scores.  They were impressed with the diversity of the campus, and wanted their children to learn from other cultures. Both daughters have friends from several regions of the world, and the Thompson family have hosted students from least seven different countries in their home.  Jessica has been to China twice – the first time was with a student she met at MVA. The second time she went she was able to use public transportation and tour without assistance.  Jessica has also started her study of Chinese here at MVA.  Jamie plans to go into the medical profession, and she is enrolled in the SAC program of PHS (Pre-Professional Health Sciences) at MVA, which will prepare her for this field.

In an email interview with MVA’s Alumni and Development Office, Mrs. Thompson expressed how the Academy has positively impacted her daughters: “Montverde Academy has restored our faith in the educational system in Florida.  We know now our daughter will receive educational training of the highest order. Respect and responsibility is role modeled and taught. Both of my daughters Jessica and Jamie know what is expected of them.  I have never had to remind them to do homework. I have never had to receive a call that they were doing anything out of good character.  One example of the impact of MVA is that my oldest child, Jessica, who graduated in 2012, will soon be graduating with a double major in International Affairs and Editing, Writing and Media, along with a minor in Chinese. Jessica had the opportunity of being a Prefect which built on her leadership skills.  She used these skills as early as a freshman in college she was able to work as a volunteer aiding new students who came here from China for the first time.”

Montverde Academy is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, so your contribution to the MVA Annual Fund are 100% tax-deductible, and allows everyone to give at their desired level.  Without your support, serving the academic needs, and safeguarding the emotional, societal, and physical well-being of our boarding and day students would not be possible.  All pledges received by December 31, 2015, will allow MVA to pay for expenditures during the second half of the school year.  To contribute to Montverde Academy during Support the Mission, please visit our on-line page HERE.  To join the 1912 Society, please visit HERE.
