Montverde Academy’s Katie Schorr and Viktor Toth, of Daytona Beach Seabreeze, were selected as the Orlando Sentinel’s 2015 All-Area Swimmers of the Year. In an Orlando Sentinel article, “Area swimmers of the year, Schorr and Toth, eye Olympics,” Alicia DelGallo wrote, “Schorr ( a MVA sophomore) blew by competition in the 50-yard free with an All-America Automatic time of 23.05 seconds to win gold at the Class 1A state meet in November. She also was champion of the 100 free (49.76) and led Montverde’s first-place 400 free relay team. Florida Dairy Farmers named her the state’s 1A swimmer of the year…Nationally, Schorr tied for second in her age group this season in the 100- yard free with the time she swam at state, according to USA swimming. Schorr also made the top six nationally in the 50- and 100-meter distances, which are Olympic events.”
